Military uniforms have always been a source of pride for the soldiers and sailors wearing them and the American Civil War was no exception. The main purpose of military uniforms is to distinguish one country’s army from another. The Union and Confederate armies in the Civil War would be good examples. If you are portraying a cavalry officer of soldier you’ll want to be sure you have a cavalry hat and not a forage hat. Different branches of the armies had their own style of sword, insignia and gloves. The list goes on right down to uniform buttons.
