June 12th Thru 14th Busy Weekend for Civil War Reenactments

 

The Cleburne's Division of Reenactors will host Brice's Crossroads and Tupelo battles 145th anniversary. There will be battles all three days on the original battleground in Baldwyn, Mississippi and registration is $10.00. Friday will be tactical with cavalry tactical Saturday. St. Francisville, Louisiana will celebrate the reenactment of “The Day the War Stopped” starting with Grace Episcopal Church's Graveside Histories and a Masonic Lodge historical presentation Friday evening. Saturday morning starts with a parade downtown followed by lunch at the Masonic Lodge. Also there will be vintage Civil War music and dancers at Grace Church. Early afternoon will be the reenactment for Commander John Hart's Masonic burial. The Saturday afternoon activities at Oakley Plantation include an encampment with musket and black powder demonstration, Civil War costumes, dancers and winding the day up with Plantation tours by candlelight. Saturday afternoon will be spent attending medical demonstrations and burial techniques Rosedown Plantation and a class on gravestone rubbing at Locust Grove Cemetery. The Friends of Camp Geiger will be hosting the Lehigh Valley Civil War Days at the Whitehall Recreation Area, Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania. This will be a busy weekend with skirmishes and battles, living histories including displays of camp life, camp cooking and Civil War era music. Visitors will also observe Artillery and infantry firing demonstrations with a candlelight tour Saturday evening. This is a free event with no charge for admission.
