Civil War Era Books Are Informative and Interesting Reading

 

If a person wants to educate themselves about the Civil War and the Restoration era that followed, books are the primary source of learning. With any period in American history the learning of historical events begins in the classroom. However not everyone had that opportunity. Or else it has been many years since they were in a learning environment and just want to refresh their memory. In any case books are the key to learning.

Civil War novels, both old and not so old, have long been favorites of readers of all ages. One of the earliest examples of these novels was a series of books written for children in 1863 by William Adams and centered on young Yankee soldiers. Possibly the most widely read fictional account of the war was the romantic novel “Gone With the Wind”. Many of these books are rare and valued by Civil War relics collectors.
