Civil War Bullets

The American Civil War was the greatest single influence on modern day weaponry the United States has seen. The war also influenced small arms manufactures world wide. Civil War weapons saw the transition from smoothbore rifles and handguns to the rifled-barrel firearms of today. The number of small arm weapons needed to fight the war necessitated a large number of different rifles and pistols from many manufactures and in a wide variety of calibers.

Hunting and digging for bullets is not allowed on federal battle ground parks, however, they can sometimes be found, with a little luck in areas near where the large Civil War battles happened, the marching trails of the two armies, and on land where the many skirmishes were fought. Campsites of both the Confederate and Union armies are also excellent places to find bullets. A good metal detector is a great time saving tool for finding the bullets.

This large number of different small arms was a boon for Civil War bullet collectors and other Civil War memorabilia aficionados. Some people use Civil War relics as a way to make money too! You'll find Civil War Costumes offers some of the best prices on the Internet on every type, caliber, and make of dug, non-dug, field carved, and mushroom or direct hit bullets used in the Civil War.
