Students of American history will find being at a Civil War Reenactment a rewarding learning experience. Most reenactments are planned around particular Civil War battles and the participants are hobbyists who call themselves recreationists or more commonly, reenactors. A lot of research and studying of Civil War history goes into these events to make them truly authentic. Depending on which army the reenactor has joined, choosing the proper Confederate or Union uniform is probably the single most important decision that will be made. The uniform will need to be complete with jacket, trousers, hat, brogans, and belts and buckles; all authentic right down to the buttons, pins and insignia!
Serious reenactors also take great care in choosing proper Civil War swords and other Civil War weapons, including replica pistols and rifles. Women and children also play an important part in reenactments and living histories as well and finding the right Civil War dresses and other pioneer clothing is equally important.
