Southern Belle Costumes
In earlier days a southern belle would probably have been defined as being a lady of the aristocratic society in pre and post-Civil War times. The character, Scarlett O Hara, in the great 1939 classic movie, Gone With the Wind, would be a good example of this southern belle. What woman or young lady has seen this movie without marveling at the beautiful dresses and gowns of the times? This movie, which was centered on the fall of the Confederacy, would certainly add an element of romanticism to these southern ladies. The movie opened up a whole new world of costumes as well.
For the adult or young lady that has a costume party or masquerade ball to go to there is nothing quite like a Southern Belle costume. Little girls love these costumes too and they are great for trick or treating. Here at Civil-War-Costumes we have a large inventory to suit any belles costume needs, southern or not!
